Changing Windows Passwords Remotely Updated in version 2006.7.11.7
Requires: VNCScan Enterprise Network Manager
Overview
Changing local Administrative passwords on your LAN computers should be done at least as frequently as you change your domain administrative passwords. This is often neglected, however, because it is such a pain to visit each individual computer to reset the password.
VNCScan has a tool built into it that takes all of the pain away from changing your Windows passwords in mass numbers.
How it works
-
Right-click a computer or a group of computers in a managed group and select "Windows Tools" and then "Windows Password Reset Wizard".
-
If you are running as an unprivileged user, enter an administrative username and password. If the computer is not joined to a domain, leave the domain field as %HOST%. If it is joined to a domain, enter the domain administrator username and password along with the domain name in the appropriate fields.
-
For most cases, the account to change will be simple "Administrator" but if you renamed your Administrator account to something else or simply wish to change some other user account password, put in that username here.
-
Put the NEW password for this account in the password box.
-
Press Next and confirm by pressing Finish.
