remote scripts won't import into venm on vista

I'm running vista ultimate service sp1 and VENM 2008.4.4.213 fresh install on both

when I import or even manually copy my remote scripts into VENM, I goto tools/scripting and commands/remote script manager it shows me all my scripts but when I goto edit them I have the job name and the additional files but no script text. I have copied the folder with the scripts over from a backed up file and tried to do a restore and get the same results

upgraded from xp (which the scripts worked fine) wish I could chuck Vista back to MS and file it with ME and go back to XP but thats not the way our network is going.

I guess with out good old Bill the IT feild would get boring (if we didn't have all the ms updates and patches what else would we do ..) lol

VNC/RDP computer scan

Hi.

Bozteck VENM Console ver. 2008.4.4.213

When scanning single computer for VNC/RDP, result is false/false, even if VNC on remote pc is on and ports are open.

When select all computers and "scan selected", all computers become true/true, even if half of them doesn't run vnc.

Refresh computers in domain shows computers, that are already turned off already.

Vista x64 - VNCScan Crashes - Debug info included in post

First, let me say that, when I found VNCScan during Google it looked like a great tool. I checked the web site and it further looked promising. Lastly, since the web site indicates it "Works with Windows Vista", I was even more encouraged.

I read the tips for Vista users. I strongly disagree with the UAC statement. UAC works fine and it hardly instrusive after a machine has be configured and "personlized" for a given user.

I downloaded the trial and installed it on my Vista x86 machine. It ran great. I did not have to do anything special for the x86 Vista install. The features it offers are just what I was looking for so I purchased an administrator license.

Then came the problem. I am transitioning to Vista x64 so I installed VNCScan on that system. I received the authorization codes and entered them. As noted in other forum posts, the VNCScan console UI runs fine. However, when I tried to create a new managed group, VNCScan crashed.

I am sorely disappointed with this turn of events. So far, out of all the application and driver installs, I have had only two failures....VNCScan and WinDVD9.

Below is the debug text that was generated by the crash. Hopefully this can be resolved quickly. Vista x64 runs so much better that x86.

Windows 2000 and UltraVNC video driver issue?

I just deployed UltraVNC with VENM 2008.4.4.213 to 70+ computers, about 17 of them are Windows 2000 SP4 machines. I deployed the video driver to all, and so far 3 of the windows 2000 machines went into a reboot loop.

To fix, I ran the uninstall.bat file in the c:\program files\orl\vnc\driver directory.

Is this a known issue?

No "comments" after upgrading to latest build (Build 2008.4.4.213)

Hello,

I recently upgraded my VNCScan from Build 2007.10.1.8 to Build 2008.4.4.213. Ever since upgrading I have lost the information in the "comments" field for my custom/managed groups. (comments are showing up fine in the domain group, under My Network Places). I have tried deleting/recreating the custom group, and refreshed numerous times (via DNS and port scan) but still no comments. This is an important issue since comments provide a "friendly name" and an easy way for us to identify computers on our network.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Or do I have to revert back to Build 2007.10.1.8?

EDIT: I should also mention that we are on a Windows NT network

2008.4.4.213 - forcing reinstall after logout / login ... sometimes?

About every third time I logout and login I have to reinstall the console.

When I click the desktop icon it immediately goes into the win install mode and gives the error

unable to locate a file... the file location is

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations\{766B7D9A-006D-4B99-BA57-D337BFEF0D3D}\

If I click OK on the error box it then complains about finding the msi file and won't continue.

I then uninstall and re-install, it works (for a while) .

Any ideas ?

Platform is

WinXP pro SP2 + all patches and upgrades

in a domain, I'm logged in as domain admin/local admin

This started after the upgrade to 2008.4.4.213.

"View Installed Software" Stopped working

After installing version 12.12 the View Installed Software option stopped working.

Here is the error I get:

Unhandled Exception error -Workstation Settings - Wallpaper etc.

I was trying to turn off the Wallpaper and other screen attributes when connecting to a workstation. I could not find the settings. I went to the Tools menu and click on the VNC deployment wizard. The first screen shows the default profile. Click on the NEXT button and you get the Alternative Credentials pages and the "Finish" button is active.

Now click on the BACK button and you get the "Custon VNC Server Registry Settings" page, click on BACK again and you get the "Remaining VNC Server Options" page, click on BACK again and you get the "Configuring Deployement Profile" page, click on BACK again and you will get the "Deploy VNC on remote computer page" where you can choose the "remove wallpaper and remove background options". Enable those settings and click on the NEXT button, NEXT again, NEXT again, NEXT again and you will get an Unhandled exception error and you will be forced out of the program.

Version: 2008.4.4.213

I just need to turn off the wallpaper and background for all workstations. How is the best way to do this?

Workstation.xml disapearing...

For the last three or four versions, we have been having issues with our workstations.xml file getting erased when we add or change a workstation. Not everytime, but darn close.

It just becomes a blank file and we then have no PC's in that group.

We have it in a shared directory and four of our workstations point to it.
It's worked well in the past, but over the last few months, it's been doing that.

It's on a Win2K3 server, so luckily we can use the previous versions and restore it from the previous day, but it's still extremely annoying. We have to make sure everyone's out of VNCscan and then restore the file and then we can start it back up. It's also been very slow to save changes. Even if you open up the properties and then cancel. It still sits for about 30 seconds before you get your normal screen back.

Vista x64 support

When will a 64 bit version be released? I can't get this program to run in my main support enviroment I keep getting VNCSCAN has stopped working errors when either trying to create a group or modify one.

I think this software will fit my needs perfectly but I need it to run in a 64 bit enviroment.

Global login settings not working

First of all- awesome product!! Thanks for all your hard work!

When connecting to a remote computer I would like to automatically login with my credentials, but it doesn't seem to work when I enter that info either at the Group Properties>VNC Settings or Preferences>Global Settings>Security/Identity. I have to manually enter the information in the Computer Properties>VNC settings of each computer.

Problem establishing an RDP console session with Vista SP1

Cannot connect to an RDP console session after installing Vista SP1.

The mstsc.exe switch has been changed to /admin from /console in SP1.

Is there a Bozteck patch or update available to workaround this please?

Has this been resolved yet please as I have installed the latest version but I still cannot connect to an RDP console session for the same reason?

Will not go past Splash Screen since Build 2008.4.4.213 upgrade

VENM not letting me connect via VNC

This just started recently, whenever I try to connect to a pc by double clicking, the system just sits there and does nothing. I can connect via Quick Connect but that's it.

Everytime I use quick connections to connect, it puts a space in the qConnect.dat file. Now there a bunch of empty lines and I have to scroll all the way down to find a remembered computer.

Unhandled Exception

When using the deployment wizard, I receive an unhandled exception error (Could not find file: C:\Users\user\Documents\VNCScan\Profiles\Ultra\flavor.txt)

Using the trial to evaluate. I have this installed on Vista. I have set the file permissions for the program folder where everyone has full access. I also set the executable to run as with administrative privileges every time.

I keep getting an error everytime I have VNCScan open. It is a .NET framework error and it reads:

The process cannot access the file'C:\Program Files\Bozteck\VNCScan Console.NET\ListViewSettings.config' because it is being used by another process.

This only started happening when I upgraded to version 2008.1.28.129. It will allow me to double click on computers to remote control but will give the error. If I click continue it will allow but error comes back. It also comes up when I just have the console open.

Any help would be appreciated.

VNCScan Backups not working

My computer crashed today. When I got back up running VNCScan was missing all of the groups, so I opened the VNCScan Backup manager to restore the last backup. I was surprised to see that the first backup was today at the time I restarted VNCScan, but all the previous backups are from August 2007 with the last one being 8-30-07. I tried to restore the latest backup and restarted VNCScan, but the groups were still gone.

I checked in Tools-Preferences and it says to keep 5 backups before overwriting, but it looks like it only overwrites the latest one. I managed to restore one from August, but I've made massive changes to my network since then, so it will take me a very long time to get back to where I was.

I'm on version 2008.1.28.129. I looked at back at the version history and it looks like a new version of VNCScan was released on August 30th, so I'm wondering if the problem might have started with that version.

Rename.cmd not deleting

I have remotely renamed a select few computers within our domain. After it renames the computer it is supposed to delete the wsname.exe and the rename.cmd files from the c:\temp directory.

Here is what the command states in the remote computers c:\temp within the rename.cmd file

c:\temp\wsname.exe /N:**********/rcid /user:**********\*********/pass:*********
del c:\temp\wsname.exe
del c:temp\rename.cmd

Can you let me know if there is a easy change to an ini file or something to get this fixed? I dont want all the users in the company to know what my administrator password is.
