    VNC/RDP computer scan

    Hi.

    Bozteck VENM Console ver. 2008.4.4.213

When scanning single computer for VNC/RDP, result is false/false, even if VNC on remote pc is on and ports are open.

When select all computers and "scan selected", all computers become true/true, even if half of them doesn't run vnc.

Refresh computers in domain shows computers, that are already turned off already.

    Best regards, Ivan

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

That's bizarre.  I haven't been able to reproduce this, yet.  Did this just recently start happening?  Can you please give me some details about the sort of firewalling and operating systems that are in use?

    Thank you,

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

    Hi.

I think this happened after upgrading to XP Service pack 3 but i'm not absolutely sure.

OS: Windows XP SP3, ESET Smart Security 3.0.642.0

Reinstalled the program and the same thing happens...

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

    Hi Francis,

If you lower the number of threads in the scan or increase the timeout value, do you get different results?

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

    Hi Sam,

I installed the 2008.6.1.214, reduced the number of scan thread to one, increase the timeout to 5000ms or 10000ms and I have the same problem.

    Best regards.

PS: When I installed the 2008.6.1.214 it do not replace the old version 2008.4...

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

    Hi,

Finally after some more tests the scan with the 2008.6.1.214 work bettre.

With the default number of thread and timeout it can find more clients.

    Best regards.

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

I think that XP SP3 resets the tcpip.sys file back to one that limits the number of concurrent TCP connections causing the scan to act flaky with too many open connections.

    Thank you,

    Re: VNC/RDP computer scan

Awesome!  I was really excited when I stumbled upon the SP3 patch.  I put a link to the patch on our download page next to the SP2 patch that was always up there.  I even found one for Vista.

    Thank you,
