I am trying to use VENM to change the VNC password on about 300 machines nationwide. Some of them are on VPN, some are behind DSL routers, some are local.

I am testing VENM on 3 local machines and when I try to use the wizard to change password (using change standard vnc password) I always get username or password wrong. I know for a fact that they are correct. When I try to do it using "Current Credentials" it gives me the same problem. If I delete the %HOST% (we do not use domains) it simply hangs at authenticating. I am using version 2008.4.4.213.

I have also tried creating the reg file and when I run that file on another machine, even manually, it does not change the password.

I am using UltraVNC version 1.0.2 on all my machines.

What am I doing wrong?

Example:

HOSTNAME:Authenticating
HOSTNAME:Writing reg file
HOSTNAME:Failure writing to the computer = Login failure: unkown user name or bad password.

I know for a fact that the user name and password are correct. For reference windows firewall is off.

It sounds like the remote computer is using simple filesharing.  When this is enabled, even the correct authentication will fail just like that.

Are you referring to windows filesharing or the filesharing in UltraVNC? I had to turn off user impersonation to get the VNC file transfer to work.

That seems to work on my local pc. Now I have to turn the simple file sharing off on about 300 machines nationwide and hope for the best. Thanks for the help. This is definitely faster than doing it by hand!
