VENM not letting me connect via VNC

    VENM not letting me connect via VNC

    This just started recently, whenever I try to connect to a pc by double clicking, the system just sits there and does nothing. I can connect via Quick Connect but that's it.

    Running 2007.6.5.2

    Win XP Pro SP2

    Tried re-install of VENM and Net framework2.

    I went back to the previous version of VENM and that seems to be working fine right now. I'll try the next update when it comes out.

    Ok, I am currently using ver 2007.6.5.2 and am unable to connect via VNC to any pc.

    I can use QuickConnect to log into a pc but when I go to my managed lists and double click on a pc nothing happens. I have had this error for a while and have been unable to resolve it. I have tried the newest updates (in trial mode since my license has expired and is in the process of being renewed) but I still have the same problem. It is only on this one PC. If I use the latest versiuons on different PCs, I have no problems. But on my main desktop, I am unable to connect to anything with versions 2007.6.5.2 and higher. I know there is a setting somewhere that is casuing this but I have uninstalled, searched thru the entire hard drive, registry and everywhere wlse I could think of and removed all references to VNCSCAN but I am obiously missing something. The only thing left to do would be to wipe my harddrive and reinstall everthing. I really don't want to do that unless I absolutely have too.

    Has anyone else out there encountered this error and found a solution to it??

    Just an fyi. This problem has been resolved. There was apparently a confilct with another piece of software that I had loaded on my pc. I have no idea which one since I was doing some cleanup on my pc and uninstalled quite a few pieces of trial software that I was evaluating. On a whim, I double-clicked on a pc and was able to connect. I will keep track of the software installs I do from here on out to see what affects VENM like this again.

    Thank you for the update.  If you find out what it was, I'm very interested in that piece of information.  We hear of this symptom from time to time and I'm always positive that this is the case but it's difficult to nail down exactly which software is causing the problem.

    I'm trying to document all of the ones that we can find to keep customers from playing the "process of elimination" game on their own time.

    I've recently upgraded to 2008.1.28.129 and have started having this problem as well. I've uninstalled everything I can do without and reinstalled VENM repeatedly. I've had no success getting uVNC back online from a double-click perspective. It does work well from a quick connect, just not from a double-click or the right-click Connect menu. A dump of the debug log seems to indicate the temporary cmd file is not being created. I'll paste the important parts below for your review. Any ideas?

    I'm assuming that you're running Vista. 

      Have you tried running VNCScan “as Administrator”?  You may need to delete and then recreate your deployment profile for it to work.

    Just and update to the thread. I was running VENM on an XP-SP2 with all the patches as an administrator not only of the workstation, but also as an enterprise admin. I resolved this by wiping the workstation, installing Vista Ultimate SP2 and reinstalling all my ususal software. I tested this as a reinstall of XP and the problem also went away, but I've been needing to move to Vista anyway so... it's fixed and I still have no idea what when wrong with the first installation.

    Been having the same problem for 6 months on XP pro SP2.  Been waiting for a resolution before renewing, is this fixed?
