It sounds like the remote computer is using simple filesharing. When this is enabled, even the correct authentication will fail just like that.

I share your frustration with Vista. I've put all of my person computers back to XP but I unfortunately need to run Vista here for development. Where are your script files being stored? You can't even save a new script and retain the script text?

That's strange. Nothing has changed in that code base. If you create a new comment, does it stick? If you drag/drop a computer from the workgroup under ''My Network Places'', does the comment get copied?

Sometimes this can be fixed by deleting the settings.xml file from your 'My Documents\vncscan\data' folder.Does this do it?

Im not sure that I fully understand. Are you saying that you initially set it to 5800 and it works fine, and then deploy the same profile again and it somehow resets to port 0?

I will look into this to see if there's a way to do this. If so, it will be in the next release.

This can happen when the settings.xml contains data or characters that VENM does not recognize. I'm not sure exactly what caused it in your case but the fix is to simply delete the file and let the program generate a new on the next time that it is run.There is a description of each of the data files here: ...
