• VNCScan Backups not working

My computer crashed today. When I got back up running VNCScan was missing all of the groups, so I opened the VNCScan Backup manager to restore the last backup. I was surprised to see that the first backup was today at the time I restarted VNCScan, but all the previous backups are from August 2007 with the last one being 8-30-07. I

  • Windows XP SP2 Connections Limit Changed

Earlier this month (Jnauary) Microsoft posted a critical security update to TCP/IP that will result in the file TCPIP.SYS being replaced. The patch fixes a remote code execution flaw in TCP/IP for Windows XP, 2000, Server 2003 and Vista. If you use Automatic Updates, WSUS or any other update tool you have probably already received this ...

  • Re: remotely disable Power management?

First, as you noticed the user needs the proper rights. One way is to make the user a local admin The other way is simply to give the user change rights to the proper registry keys:HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg\GlobalPowerPolicyand MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls ...

  • Re: Ability to get "Asset Tag"

On a similar note, I'd like to suggest expanding this a bit. It would be great if we could define additional data columns for the groups to store user-defined data. To populate these columns you could either allow the user to set up a VBscript to gather and return the data for each computer or you could simply have the user specify a ...

  • Re: New Version?

I sent this to Steve in an E-Mail, but I wanted to post it here as well.I'm a bit annoyed that the only way that I found out that I was past the expiration was to install a new version and have it suddenly not work without any advance notice. I would have expected that the installer would warn me that I'm overwriting a registered version with

  • Re: New Version?

It now doesn't lose the MAC when updating, but it still doesn't automatically update the MAC address. The old version (pre-.NET 2.0) used to automatically scan the MAC addresses. The way it is now I need to open the properties for each computer an put it in manually. The install didn't go too well. The first time I ran it, it ...

  • New Version?

Hello, I was wondering when you plan on releasing an update? It's been a while since we've seen one. In the meantime I previously posted about a bug where MAC Addresses are cleared any time the computer is re-scanned. This has been a big problem for me because it prevents me from using WOL. Steve said it would be fixed in ...

  • Open Remote CD Drive

I'm not sure if there is a really practical purpose behind this one. Personally I think it makes a great practical joke. For Each d In CreateObject(''Scripting.FileSystemObject'').Drives If d.DriveType = 4 Then ...

  • Re: Learn to write script / Nedd a script to copy a file.

There are several types of scripting languages. Of the ones that are available in Windows, if you're using Windows 95/98/ME you'll probably need to stick with simple DOS batch files. NT has some extensions to the standard batch file, but it's basically the same.If you have Windows 2000 or later you can use VBScript or JScript. ...
